Fall Seasonal Alignment Part 3 – emotional clearing and detoxing.

During autumn, the Metal Element season, it is important to look at your relationship with emotions, such as sadness and sadness.
Do you keep any of those emotions unprocessed and blocked in your body?
Do you feel pressure in your chest and lungs?
Do you often suffer from shortness of breath, frequent colds and flu, allergies, asthma, runny nose or coughing?
Are you constipated and do you have intestinal problems such as spastic bowel, Crohn's or Colitis?
Do you have very dry skin and eczema or brittle hair or nails?

All these symptoms can indicate an imbalance in the Metal Element, which can be caused by unresolved grief, mourning, sadness and inability to let go of what no longer serves you. Fall is a great time to work on releasing past traumas and emotional issues that are weighing you down.

Here comes the next pillar of my fall season alignment:

Pillar 4. Emotional clearing.

In addition to the breathing techniques described in my previous post, you can practice a beautiful Dry Crying Qigong sequence for processing grief and letting go.

The sequence should be done in the following way:

Preparation:

Stand with your feet wider than hip distance apart, bend your knees slightly, extend your tailbone and pull your navel inward.

Bring the thumb and index finger of both hands together. This creates a connection between the lung and large intestine meridians (the lung meridian ends at the thumb and the large intestine meridian starts at the index finger).

Let your arms hang at your sides, slightly behind the midline of your legs, by bringing your shoulder blades together slightly. This helps to open the chest and lungs. If you feel discomfort in your lower back, place your hands on your lower back for extra support.

Pull up the area around the point between the anus and the genitals (Hui Yin point). It is located in the same place as the First/Root chakra. Pulling it up ensures that the Qi does not leave the body.

Dry Crying series

On an inhale, bring the arms forward with the backs of the hands touching, while rounding your back and bringing your shoulders and collarbones forward toward each other. This will be one Turtle Back position named. Take a deep breath.

On an exhale, lift your ribs and bring the bottom of the shoulder blades together, at the same time bringing the hands back behind the body with the palms facing upwards. This will be one Dragon Back position named.

Then tilt your head back with the mouth open, relax the jaw and release all tension from the face. Allow the breath to flow freely from the lungs through the mouth. Imagine it flowing from the Hui Yin point through the lungs to the mouth. The sound of the breath should be a soft “haaaaaa” sound with a falling pitch. “Haaaaaa” is the healing sound of the Fire Element and in PCG the Fire Element controls the Metal Element.

Repeat this entire sequence 9 times.

Closing:

When you're done with the sequence, it's important to touch the ground to prevent the uprooted toxins and emotions from causing Qi stagnation in the throat and upper chest.

Slowly lean forward, hinged at the hips and let the arms hang down. Bend the knees enough so that the hands can touch the floor.

Imagine the released emotions of grief, mourning and sadness, flowing like water from the torso through the arms and through the center of your palm deep into the earth. At the same time, ground your index finger and thumb on the earth.

Repeating the Dry Crying technique a few times a day intensifies the release, so go as gentle or as strong as you feel is right for you at the time.

Since the sound corresponding to the Metal Element is crying, it is very healing to allow yourself to cry and avoid holding in or stopping the tears as they arise.

If you feel like you are unable to cry or if a cry is stuck deep inside, turn to a professional holistic therapist to Reiki regression healing or Energetic Massage with acupressure to be applied to the specific meridian points. Reiki Regression Healing or Energetic Massage involves special techniques that work on each of the TCM organ systems, including the lungs and colon, gently stimulating the process of releasing and clearing blockages in these areas. Last, but not least, to prepare your body for fall, I share with you the importance of your skin.

Pillar 5. Detoxify through your skin.

I have found that working with the skin during any detox period is very difficult is supportive of removing toxins from your body. I use the Ayurvedic techniques of daily brushing of dry skin and gentle oil massage in the morning before showering. It helps with blood and lymph circulation and removes old cells from the skin surface. Self-massage is very soothing and nourishing and counteracts the dehydration of the skin that can occur in the colder and dry season.

If you can have regular sessions in the infrared sauna or dry Finnish sauna, they will intensify the detoxification process. If not, you can also take a warm bath with some magnesium salt, Epsom salt and baking soda.

Because the lungs, according to TCM, open into the nose, you can do something Add aromatherapy by adding a few drops of essential oil to your bath or diffusing it in a diffuser. Cypress, patchouli, helichrysum and cinnamon bark are essential oils that help process grief and mourning and heal emotional wounds.

You can also even deeper Detoxing through essential oils, through the very powerful ones Symphony of the Cells™ behandeling to undergo. This treatment uses 10-11 different pure doTerra essential oils of therapeutic quality. They are applied to the back and bottom of the feet during a relaxing short massage.

In the 3 posts about fall season alignment, I shared with you exercises and examples that I use regularly and that work for me and my clients.

I encourage you to try them and keep what feels good, but leave out what doesn't work for you. Don't force yourself to adjust something that doesn't feel good for your body, but use your intuition to guide you to the solutions that will feel good.

I wish you magical and peaceful autumn season!
